This month we’re shining the spotlight on Eda Kirisci , Secretary of Maryland IFT! Eda’s path into food science began in high school, sparked by curiosity about the science behind food – an interest shaped by growing up in Turkey, Switzerland, and the U.S.
Today, she supports global regulatory compliance at FoodChain ID, helping companies navigate food additive regulations to keep our food supply safe. She’s also curious about where biotech innovations like precision fermentation could take our industry next.
Her advice to students and early-career professionals? “Be active and get involved! Join your food science club, IFTSA, or any organization that gives you opportunities to learn and meet people in your field. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, introduce yourself to people, and stay curious.”
Thank you, Eda, for all you do to build our Maryland IFT community!
